The humble shirt dress is flexible, adaptable and comes in a fantastic array of colours and patterns. Whilst, I do love a shirt dress, I almost never wear it as a dress at all. My preferred style to wear the dress is as a duster. I get a fabulous, long-line layer, a sense of dramatic flare and chic ensemble that is comfortable. The image above is a selection of the shirt dresses in my wardrobe – yes, there are more!
As a duster, the shirt dress draws the eye down. I look both taller and slimmer – which, as a plus-size girl, I thoroughly enjoy.
I can be wearing the most simple, understated singlet and opaque leggings underneath and by simply throwing on the shirt dress and some boots – I’m ready to go to work or out to eat.
In addition, the shirt dress – duster is a light layer, that may be either short or long sleeved. It becomes a great transitional piece during autumn and spring. It is great for wearing indoors when you need a coat on outdoors. Add a belt to break the line and cinch in the waist for a more feminine silhouette.
All in all, the shirt dress is well-worth investing i. Find a colour or pattern that you like and get yourself the classice two-for-one deal.
