5 Signs It’s Time To Update Your Skincare

My mid-thirties was the point of my skin epiphany! It crept up on me without my noticing, then one day I had neck wrinkles and pigmentation! As I stared at my face and neck in the mirror, I realised that my skin was aging a lot faster than my mind – and I wasn’t ready for it – no way, no how! Were there solutions? Of course there were, many of them way beyond my budget – but it was clear something had to be done! It took me a few more years to find the perfect remedy for my skin. It took some research and an understanding of what…

    October Skin Update

This journey began in earnest two years ago when I realised that my skin was aging quicker than I would like and I could do something about it. I took small steps at first, because – well, I didn’t really know better. Skin ages – it is what happens. It had been aging all of my life – but when I noticed the rapid increase in the rate of aging shortly after I turned 40, I decided to see what I could do about it. You have heard this story before – the end result is that I found Rodan & Fields products. Since then, one improvement has led to…

    Are You Beach Ready?

Beaches are as iconic to the Australian experience as any of the man-made landmarks. We are lucky enough to have a beach of sorts either just down the road or within a day trip for most of us. Obviously, in the centre of the country that is a bit more complex. I grew up on the coarse sandy beaches of the Murray River, but some of us are lucky enough to have the oceanic, coastal beaches on our doorstep. This spring-summer season – no matter your type of beach, take the time to walk barefoot in the sand, let the water wash up around your ankles, breathe the fresh air…

What’s the Go with Skin Care?

The thing with skin care is that it matters more than you think and it can easily get away from you as you age. Think about what we do to our skin daily – hopefully it’s getting washed, moisturised and sunscreened at a bare minimum, but we also expose it to fragrances, make-up and the pollution and toxins that surround us on a daily basis. If you are going to bed with only a morning routine, then you are condeming your skin to hours of pore-clogging, polluting chemicals either sitting on or soaking into the surface! At a minimum, our skin – particularly the regularly exposed areas should be –…

    Skin Update July 2020

When I start thinking about spring crops for my garden, it is also time to transition my skincare regimen. As previously stated, during the autumn-winter months, I am working on recovering the sun-damage on my face using the R+F Reverse regimen. The combination of Vit C and retinol works wonders on my sun-damage, but also makes you more sensitive to new sun-damge if exposed to too much UV light. In Tasmania, we have a lot of UV light! As a gardener, I spend a lot of time outdoors in the warmer and more UV exposed months, so transitioning my skincare regimen is important. For the past two years, I have…

    The importance of sunscreen

Living in Australia, I believe most people are aware of the general importance of sunscreen to prevent sun damage, but are they aware that it causing your skin to also appear more aged? It is important to be mindful that different parts of Australia receive different amounts of UVA and UVB as I understand it.  Also, as I understand it, UVB causes a lot of sunburn and UVA is linked to aging (but both contribute to skin cancer)- please note, I am not a doctor. Sunlight is necessary, however, for vitamin D production and maintaining healthy skin flora – and it makes us feel good. UVA can travel through glass…
