    Look Leaner with Accessories

As we age, we tend to be graced with more curves – some of the curves enhance and support our appearance, others – well they just create bumps in the visual line of our bodies. Although the long-term solution takes a considerable amount of effort and committment to diet and exercise, there are quick styling tips that will support a leaner looking visage. Most of us have the required accessories in our existing wardrobe to create a leaner look in seconds. The following list are my go to pieces: A long necklace that sits below the bust – this creates a visual V-that breaks the line of the bust shelf…

    Trending: Equestrian Styling

The big fashion houses of Hermes and Gucci are renown for their equestrian styling, and in a usual year, it sits there, everpresent in the background. The coming summer into autumn, however, is a showcase in equestrian styling. It built up over the spring-summer season in the UK in particular, and now they are experiencing their autumn collections, it has really made itself known. Personally, I love a bit of equestrian styling, possibly because I used to be one of those girls that had a horse and spent the weekends riding. Granted, I never fully went in for the dressage side of things, but seated in a saddle taking in…

    Spring-Summer Boots

The main difference between spring and autumn boots is the degree of ankle exposure. Ideally, an autumn boot has socks that cover your lower legs and so the boots, should endeavour to cover the sock – unless of course you are a bit of a socktrovert (and I know there are some out there)!  Spring boots, on the other hand, are cut low and expose skin. The point of their design is to show skin and the delicate features of the ankle bone. These are the boots worn with invisible sockettes (or sans socks) and slightly cropped pants. The whole point is to create a frame to show off the…

    Comfort Shoes with Style

The first time I (unknowingly) slipped on a pair of comfort shoes was a revelation! Now, I have over dramatic feet, by that I mean, they do not fair well if I wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row – makes packing for holidays abroad ridiculous! I don’t have bunyions or any of the usual complaints of a woman in her fourties, my feet just get large, deep, cranky blisters. For this reason, I rotate my shoes every day and often wear two pairs of socks! It was a pair of Planet Boots that opened my eyes as my feet slipped in and were hugged by…

    Back in the UGGs

I hate having cold feet! I guess it is becoming more and more a sign of growing older, but I just can’t stand it – I like to be able to feel my toes! This week has been the coldest that we have had all winter and it looks like it will continue for another week. I have been so thankful that last year, I invested in a couple of pairs of fahion-friendly UGG boots! While the UGG and puffer jacket combo is not particularly stylish, by golly it is warm! Although there is a big chunk of the year when my UGGs sit idly in my cupboard, the days…

    Tough Boots for Daily Wear

Winter is an excellent time to embrace your inner warrior and find some tough boots for daily wear. It is the perfect season to put on a pair of thick socks and invest in some leather boots with chunky soles. Look for boots that rise above the ankle bone and have a round toe. Laces are likely but sometimes that are just for show and boots will also have a side zip for easy access. Importantly, they don’t need to be black. The effect of wearing a combat style boot, is to toughen up a feminine outfit. Tough boots are inherently masculine by their shape and overt, if practical, soles.…

5 Skirts to Wear with Boots

One of my fashion favourites is a skirts and boots outfit. I love a knee-high boot, and have recently also climbed on the western wagon. I enjoy the stability of being in boots, but also the way the fabric of the skirt sweeps across the material of the boot. Whether you show a little leg or not, boots and skirts can be a great winter combination. The great advantage of knee-high boots in winter is the extra warmth they provide on the legs. A pair of thermal leggings will go unnoticed under a long skirt with knee-high boots. It helps to maintain warmth and is a very comfortable option.  Keeping…

    Brilliant boots…

By far the most dominant form of footwear in my collection is boots. I am an absolute sucker for a pair of them. I willingly sacrifice some of my other shopping desires if an awesome pair of boots comes on sale!  The beginning of my love affair with boots began when I slipped on my first pair of Django & Juliettes in 2016. From the moment I took those latte boots out the box, I was enamoured. The craftsmanship, the detail, the comfort…this was the beginning of what, some might say, is my boot obsession. Now, not all of my boots are Django and Juliette brand – but where I…

    Why I love my Uggs

It was mid-2019 when I embarked on my UGG journey with my first pair of real UGG boots. I was convinced by one of my colleagues saying that hers were “like a warm hug for your feet”. That night, I went home and ordered a pair.  The first time I put them on, I knew I was hooked. They are so warm and so comfortable and dare I say it, come in some really stylish versions that are not the traditional one everyone thinks of when they say UGG boots (although there are many that are the traditional form), that you no longer need to sacrifice style for warmth.  I…
