    Wonderful Wreaths

Wreaths are one of those decor features that sets the tone for everything yet to come as you enter a home. They can by big and bold or dainty and considered. Some of them were wonderful for the first two or so years of use, but if you take a look now, they are getting a bit tattered. If yours is needing an update, then wreaths this year are worth investing in.  On the other hand, there are now many Youtube tutorials to make your own. So if you have a frame, a bucket load (or two) of materials, a roll of florist wire and touch of creativity, you could…

    Cute Cuddles for Christmas

They are adorable, cuddly and hard not to love – a cuddle toy is an excellent stocking stuffer for a little person in your life this Christmas. In this, a year where personal contact was greatly reduced, what better way to send you heart-felt affections than with a totally huggable plush friend? I don’t know if it is because I’m a bit of a hoarder, but somehow, despite all the moves and changing locations of my life, I have managed to hang on to and transport with me some significant cuddle toys from my childhood. Granted they hold significant sentimental value and this is why they have been so treasured.…

    Outfits for Summer Celebrating

In the season of gatherings, dinners, outings and celebrations, having a few key pieces in the wardrobe will make the whole – ‘I have nothing to wear’ a thing of the past. Create a capsule wardrobe of celebration outfits and you’ll be all set. The trick with a capsule wardrobe is to make sure there is a relationship between all of the pieces. A capsule wardrobe only needs around 12 pieces to be fully effective. Start with a one-and-done piece like a dress or jumpsuit. Select three bottoms. These could be skirts, pants or shorts – or one of each. Two of these pieces should be basic in style, and…

    Gifts for the Fur Children

Fur children can be just as much a part of the family as the human children. Gift giving, however, needs to be carefully considered – we don’t want to make out fur children sick with inappropriate gifts. It may be tempting to give them extra food treats, but be mindful, a lot of dogs end up with pancreatitis following Christmas. This year, be generous, be kind, but don’t change too much in your pet’s diet too quickly. Instead, gift the give of love and spend more time playing and cuddling the fur children. If you feel compelled to put a little something under the tree for the fur babies, here…

    November Favourites 2020

I’m still coming to terms with the fact that November has started, let alone about to end! Despite everything 2020 has thrown at us, the year has progressed at a rapid pace and I suddenly find my calendar for December filling up! This month I have enjoyed things like being able to shop some of my favourites online (Partylite) and finding some fabulous decorating treasures (candlesticks from Myer). I have been wearing my new wedges and found an awesome bra that doesn’t fall off my shoulders! All in all, a pretty successful month! I’ll be using 3 sets of the Myer candlesticks for my Christmas kitchen island centrepiece. Of course,…

    Detailed Doormats

How long is it since you have replaced your doormat? Is it a bit worn around the edges? Have you had it so long that the shop you bought is from no longer exists? A doormat is so easy to overlook – it’s there all the time, and unless you have boiterous dogs, probably doesn’t move much. They are tough and last a long time, which means, we tend to forget about them. Gone are the days of the plain coir mat. Doormats now are the introduction to your home. They invite your guests in and tell them what to expect before they enter. They are the clue-providers that say…

    Figure-flattering Swimwear

I don’t know about you, but for me there have been particular events in my life that have made me stop and think about swimwear more thoughfully. The ease with which I threw on a pair of bathers (or dare I say it, a bikini) in my late teens and early twenties disappeared during pregnancy. Scroll forward more than twenty years (gulp!) and swimwear is quite a bit more of a challenge. Although I readily believe the shape of my body is a happy reflection of a life well-lived, there are certian – let’s call them wobbly bits – I don’t need the world to see. My arms are a…

    Stylish Gifts For Him

We all have them, that male in our lives who claims they don’t know what gift they would like or worse, they don’t care what gift you give them. Really? Where is the hope and anticipation in such a practice? On the other hand, knowing someone so well that you don’t need to ask has some benefits too! I have a stylish husband and a non-commital son – so, both extremes of the gift-giving continuum – but neither particularly helpful when it comes to answering the gift-giving questions. In this post, I’m leaning towards gifts for the stylish male, or, the one who could benefit from being a tad more…

    Return to Richmond

The last time we were in Richmond was the weekend before lockdown began! It was the Saturday my husband and I decided to do a grand adventure and head toward Wine Glass Bay – and then the world stopped! Yesterday, we went back – it was lovely. The reason we returned was to explore the famous Christmas Shop on our way out for lunch. Yes – it was a wonderland. Several floors of exploring the Christmas paraphenalia; walking on creaking old floorboards and mesmerised by the sparkle and extravagance of it all. It’s been probably 8 or 9 years since I have visted the Christmas shop, but I was not…

    Adding Extra Christmas Sparkle

Somewhere in my thirties, I started to really appreciate crystal. I don’t know why it took me so long to really fall in love with it – but once the bug hit, I began to look at glassware in a whole different way. Yes it is heavy, and often expensive, but the magic of light refracting through cut crystal is just spectacular! In my mind, the perfect tree ornament is a crystal snowflake.  I love a snowflake at the best of times – it’s probably the geometry, but the nature and pattern of a snowflake really speaks to me. Imagine my delight, in disocvering in my thirties, that there were…
